Default Not quite a death wobble, but...

Ok, So my Xj when it was stock would get a wobble around 55mph or so. It needed tires so I figured that was the issue... Fast Forward- I lifted it with new tires and viola problem solved. Or so I thought... Now the wobble has been starting to come back progressivly worse. Between like 48mph & 55mph. My tires in the front are wearing unevenly. They are wearing lumpy... So instead of a steady hum, its like wop wop wop wop.... Makes the noise all the time, but only wobbles at speed... I run 31" treadwright mt's btw...

So I'm thinking of getting new shocks, steering stabilizer, realignment and some new AT tires... Will that fix it or are there more problems???

Btw, I aligned it right after the lift and haven't been off road once. All highway driving...

Thanks!

Sounds like your heading in the right direction with the fixes your planning. Also if your tires are wearing wrong you may need Ball joints (kingpins..etc) or tie rods. Jack up the front and start wiggling tires back and forth and up and down...Tj

What should i be looking for when I get it jacked up and start wiggling wheels around? Even if something seems sloppy i'll probably have no idea what it is...

take it to your alignment shop and as they are doing your alignment have them look at it. mine told me what i needed when i had it done. Most should go thru and do a full "wear" inspection with your alignment.

I had a wobble at higher speeds too but I also had a light popping noise when I turned and it turned out that my track bar mount the top bolts were loose, tightened them up and Walla problem solved

Have someone help you and look at the tie rod end as they move the tires left to right and check for play at the tie rod end. Move the tire up and down and feel for play (Both should NOT have any play or make any clunking sounds...Good luck...Tj

mine was doing the same thing but worse. you can check it by just moving the steering wheel back and forth while its just sitting on the ground and see if the joints wiggle or move. you should be able to tell cause like on mine the tierod ends would move before the tierod would... i ended up replacing tierod, draglink, shocks, stabilizer, axle...hope yours isnt that much of a bi@#$! good luck
