Default Noob tire question! Yes I searched!

I searched so much in fact that the answer I kept getting over and over is what I set out to purchase in the first place. BFG AT's. Then I hit up tire rack and discovered they're ranked #10 out of all similar tires.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=ORAT

Why do tires always have to be such a pain in the sack?

I thought I had it all figured out.

Are any of the tires listed above the BFG AT's actually worth it? I have noticed that a lot of them don't come in the size I want though. 32x11.50x15

I guess my question is, can I do better than BFG AT's? Because I thought I couldn't then all of a sudden they seem middle of the road.

they suck in mud and deep snow. (I live in the salt belt , deep snow to some might be 3'' to me its over 6'')

other then that they are decent tires, and high quality. Alot of people who rate tires, never leave the pavement.

I live in Nebraska. We get pretty good snows here too. Proabably not this winter though. I'd say deep snow is at least 8" personally.

Define "suck in deep snow"? Haha! The main reason I bought a jeep is for something to drive in winter that could get me anywhere. Getting ready to move out into the country so paved roads and frequent snow removal will be lacking.

I want decent road manners, won't hydroplane at every possible opportunity, good performance in snow and mud, not crazy loud. Jeep has truxus mud tires now from previous owner and they're about as loud as I'd ever want to go, but would prefer much less noise if possible, and they hydroplane like a mother******

Maybe I need to stick with a mud tire? Never owned a truck/jeep before. I'm a BMW guy so I'm clueless. Sorry.

ATs are decent in snow but if you want a good tire for road/ off road the MTs are great. MT baja claws are nice so are pro comp tires. Theres plenty of Good tires its on what u want.. All terrain mud terrain or street tire. From what i seen BFG MTs are a great choice. Fairly quiet good on the road and same off the road.

Yessir...i play in snow every winter...and mud terrains are a whole world better than any all terrain...all terrains are a great buy if you plan to stick to the road mainly and do light wheeling...they do last longer than mud terrains...but a/t's really fail when it comes to mud and deep snow.

I have 33" KM2's on my Zr2 and they have great on/offroad manners. IMO one of the best tires for a dd/weekend wheeler. Far as that list goes..i've only heard decent things about the michelins and dick cepeks but i'd still go with the bfg if i were to get any of those tires.

I don't know much about the big tires but I had my stock 225's on when it snowed big last winter in wisconsin. I was easily going through snow up to my bumper... they were just some bf goodrich a/t's.

Its just hard to decide. Ill be spending most of the time on the roads but i still want the ability to go anywhere i want off road on a whim without having to worry about it. I guess i thought the a/t was going to be better off road...
