when my 96 jeep cherokee 4.0 auto is running there is a knocking sound but not loud or fast until u tak off. its only fast when ur giveing it gas. the noise is coming from under the jeep. i was thinking either transmission or transfer case. but wat could it be.

 

thats possible but it might be as simple as a loose exhaust, or bad mount

 

Flex plate?

 

U-joints can make a knocking noise when they get sloppy.

 

thx. i dnt think its the flex plate bc the guy i bought it from put a new one in.
