noise from front end poss Rotors??
2 days ago I posted a thread from the front end I was getting sounded like a howling/grinding sound (or a whining sound) on my 1999 Cherokee sport (4 l 6), I was afraid or told it might be a carrier hub beaing or thought it my be in the front diff. ......
Well, I went to put in new front brake pads yesterday only to discover that the 2 front rotors are shot/ very bad!! The backs or insides of the rotors were toast!! severlly gouged/rusty and chucks starting to fall apart, and 3 of the pads were pretty much almost down to the rivets.....I'm getting new rotors obviously, but I put the new pads in anyway to see if that might have been the noise (because I also trried grabbing both wheels at 12 & 6 oclock like recomended looking for play, and both sides felt great no play at all!) , with the new pads in I drove it and it made considerablly less noise!! Could it be the rotors?? And not the carrier/hub bearing like orog. thought??

I am having a noise as well, Mine is only while I'm cornering. My breaks also drag just lightly, almost to hard to hear. I pulled the breaks apart and everything looked great. The rotors looked like they could be turned but were smooth with no gouges. No play in the wheel bearing either. I was wondering what it could be, maybe a sticking piston in the caliper?
