Hi have a 91 xj 4.0 and temp gauge isn't working. Located temp sensor at back of head yet there is no wire anywhere around it to hook it to. It would require the L shaped connector. Nowhere to be found. Wire off back of gauge is violet with yellow stripe and located it in main wire bundle on firewall then disappears. Haven't seen an alternate mounting location either. sooooo.... any help would be appreciated. Maybe a mod or factory recall? Wiring diagrams and pics show the wire being there except it isn't on this one. Thanks

 

Hey Jet. My 90 is very different than your 91 but I have the same rear heat sender. About three inches forward of it, it's brown wire goes onto the gang there going to the injectors and more. Dark brown possibly with a black stripe. Just to keep it extra fun for us they do indeed have the wires change colors at junctions.

 

thanks for the lead will try to find it. Beginning to wonder if the gauge reading was somehow coming out of the temp sensor from the front like in later models.
