Default no tail lights

i have searched but could not find the answers to the questions i am looking for.

i have an 02 cherokee, 6 cyl, auto, leaky tire etc. anyway recently i noticed my tail lights were not working so i got out the test light and started testing, seems there is but one wire going to the rear that has any power to it when HL-switch is ON, i tested behind the panel where spare tire mounts on driver side rear to determine this.

i have checked all fuses that i can find, all relays that i know of and there is no rust, no bad sockets or loose grounds from what i have tested so far.

my headlamp switch could be bad but before i buy anything i would like to test to be sure im not wasting my hard earned money.

1) what color wire at the headlight switch is for the tail lights?
2) which relays are for the tail lights (if any) i read under the dash is one

again, fuses under hood and dash all seem OK. but i do have 2 fuses that have 0 power to them at any time. in both the under-hood box and under dash box.

sockets look very nice and clean as do the bulbs. i can put a hot wire to the connector behind rear panel and have that side tail light work but i am stumped as to where i need to go from here.

any help is certainly appreciate. thanks.

does anyone know which color wire/s on headlight switch goes to the tail lights,

and is there a relay i need to search for under the dash that could stop my taillights from working, been on this for over a week and really need to get it fixed for inspection friday.

thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.
