Default No power to CHMSL

1999 XJ: The Center High Mount Stop Light (CHMSL in the manual) was dead so I replaced the burnt bulb. It still doesn't light when I step on the brake. Ground is good (when checked with ohm-meter) and brake light power is good to left and right tail lamps. There's no power getting to that 3rd brake light lamp. What's the most common failure-point/-location for the wires in that lamp circuit?

Okay guys, I'm not asking for a commitment. It's alright to be wrong when it comes to specific electrical troubleshooting tips. All I asked was for a little feedback on where to look for a break in the wire. The only wrong answer is none at all.

behind the chmsl. where the harness goes from the hatch to the body. XJ's wiring is rone to break there like at the front doors.

Wow, man got a little aggravated because no one answered his post within 20 minutes. Calm down bro, you will eventually get an answer here ya just might have to wait more then 20 minutes. At any rate like the previous poster said check where your wires go into the body at the tailgate and check for a break in the connection there. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Default Same problem here.

I have this problem now. How did you work out the solution to this problem? I'm going back in to take a closer look at the wiring since replacing the bulb doesn't work. I'll post back if I have any success.
