Exclamation No interior lights or locks work!

I have a 1993 Jeep cherokee country and for some reason nothing inside works when the car is off. The headlights work but the dome lights and power locks won't unless the jeep is turned on. And for some reason, the previous owner decided to connect the lights to the stereo so everytime I turn the headlights on, the stereo turns off then on but with this new problem the stereo reset and stays on for maybe a few minutes before turning off then on again. My dad checked the belt which he thought might've been the problem but that's fine. Any help would be appreciated!

I suggest you find a new power source for your stereo not associated with the headlights or other heavy draw devices. Is there an unused fuse slot on your fuse panel?

To be honest, I have no idea. I'd have to check in the morning. My buddy and I replaced the stereo with a newer one and just hooked it up how they had it and it wasn't until everything was said and done did we realize the situation. But that was over a year ago and this is the first time this has happened.
