Yep, if it's really plugged up badly I can see neither hose being hot due to lack of flow. Reverse flushing the heater core is easy to do if you have access to a garden hose and it doesn't cost anything, so it's a good first step to take.

If that doesn't fix the problem you'll need to dig deeper, but if you dig deep first then discover it just needed to be backflushed you'll be kicking yourself for not doing that first.

So this is what came out of that heater core.

The heat works super well now. But there was some coolant on the trans tunnel and pass floor. Not much though. So we are hoping there is enough stop leak left in the cool thing to patch the little hole because whatever leak it has hasn't been bad at all yet. Very tiny.

Check both heater hoses at the firewall. One or both may not be not sealing. Can't see a leaking core putting coolant outside the cab.

I'm not sure from the description whether the leak is inside or outside the cabin. If it's inside, that heater core really needs to be replaced, which is a PITA. (Likely if there was gobs of sealer in it.) You'll want to be very sure the heater core is actually leaking though before going in there.

A pressure tester is helpful for finding coolant leaks. Using one on my XJ I discovered that some hose clamps were not as tight as I thought, and on another vehicle it found a leak in a heater hose connector. You might be able to borrow a pressure tester at someplace like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts.

I've seen quite a few leaks at hoses at the firewall. I always leave a space between the hose and firewall. Jammed against it a leak may show up inside,outside,or both.

Reading the thread about this Gentleman's ordeal and situation, and the fact that several of you all went out of your way to trust and help this young Gentleman is what made me want to come back here and rub shoulders with this community again.

Well done guys... And Cam...it made my heart right again to see someone work so hard to better himself against what were some very bad odds starting with everything stacked against you. You are one lucky young man too have went through that whole situation and ordeal without being thrown into the "System" and having your future ruined. You did it right, and you did it good.

Thank you for being one of the few in your generation who chose to make a personal effort in the right direction. And that thread made me have great respect for all those here who took the time to give you a hand in helping your efforts to get yourself to a better place!

@everyone else there was a little bit of coolant on the passenger floor board immediately after flushing it. I haven't found a drop on it since and it's been about 24 hours. Have a towel down there just in case. The other signs aren't there. Smell of coolant though vents. Moisture on windshield etc.

It was a privilege to read through that experience day by day as it went along Sir. Continue keeping it in the lane and you will do just fine. Your personal principles, attitude and effort will serve you well man. Seriously... Well done for this day and age...
