On my way home last night in my 98 XJ with a 4.0L auto I pulled the light switch and notice both signal lights as well as the Bright Light symbol between them all came on. I pulled over and checked the headlights and had nothing. I also had not marker or parking lights, I did however have all the lights in the back. I turned on the flashers but got nothing either so I jiggled the multi function switch in every direction and slowly pulled the light switch in and out with no luck. I then decided to move the wheel up and down but again nothing so I drove back to my brothers and we started checking fuses and grounds. The 3 main grounds seemed fine however the 4 fuses for lights in the panel had no power on either side, anyone have any suggestions of where I might start, thanks in advance.

 

Dash lights work I assume?

I'd start at the headlight and trace backwards.

Yea the dash lights work fine and while I was sitting here I remembered that I was in my house about 2 weeks ago and kept hearing a horn blowing intermittenly. I followed the noise and found my XJ sitting in the Garage blowing it's own horn at random intervals. My Jeep is lifted so I just reached under the drivers side and unplugged it and the honking stopped. Not sure if it's related or not...... and thanks Lowrange
