i have a 87 jeep cherokee it has the 4.0 automatic trans. from what i was told it was a toyota trans. i had the trans rebuilt and now i have no first or reverse. it will drive but it feels like it is starting in second gear. and when i put it in reverse it feel like it is slipping and after sitting in reverse for about a minute it will kick in to gear. any thoughts or any thing i can check with it inside the vehicaL?

 

You paid to have the trans rebuilt? Take it back.

 

the guy keeps saying he will come look at it but just keeps falling though on it. he rebuilt it at his house. i would rather just do it my self if it possible i have a shop and all the tools to tear it down but i dont know enough about transmission internals. i didnt pay the guy in full all i paid for was parts. so if i can fix it i will just keep the labor part because it failed on his part.
