I recently installed a pair of hella 530 fog lights.
I ran everything back and mounted the switch to the right of the light switch.
I tapped power to the fog switch from the back of the cigarette lighter.
When I buttoned everything up to line up the fog lights I discovered that my dash lights were out. I checked the fuses and number 19 was blown. Could tapping the power to the switch off of the cigarette lighter cause the overload? And the fuse to blow?
Is fuse 19 for the lighter? Also are you powering a relay with the switch or full power to the lights? How many watts are the lights? You can calculate the amp draw from them by taking the wattage and dividing it by the voltage supplied. For example a 100w light supplied by 12v. 100/12=8.33a x 2=16.66. So just the lights would require like a 20 amp circuit.
If you did wire them with relays then disregard what I said and you likely have a short somewhere. Did you replace the fuse and it blew again? Maybe you temporarily shorted something during the install if it didn't blow a second time.
