My 87 xj has been having an intermittent no crank issue for a while now. Battery has a good charge and the starter is new. Was doing same thing before the starter swap. Any thoughts would be great.

 

Check the start signal wire at the starter. (The little wire that hooks up to the starter) Grab a helper, put your test lite on the same post as the little wire and have your helper turn the ignition key just like you were starting it. When the ignition switch gets to the start position you should get battery voltage at the little wire. If not you have a problem in the ignition switch circuit. Maybe an ignition switch or the power feed to the switch, or feed to the starter. Good luck.
