I have 4.0 inline 6., auto.

My problem is... it wont crank... (though it did once today out of 1000 tries


It just clicks. I used a good battery and same issue. CLICKS! just once!

now my NSS is good. I put it in reverse and it clicks, just not nearly as loud. sounds like a relay?

I swapped relays around in the power distribution box - nada
I swapped relays around in the kicker panel - nada
Checked terminals - nada
Checked wiring from the starter - nada
Ground wire to chassis - nada
New starter and solenoid - nada

Is there something I missed? have I gone mad?
I need a hug!



also it's a new engine and the crank spins by hand. I got it to run once, but it has no water yet so I didn't let it run long.

You sure the NSS is good?

 

positive.

ended up being a bad ground to the engine
