ok...just picked up my third toy..a 2wd mint 2000 that I put a motor in from a 91 due to the stock being blown at only 269K shame... but, I have the double exhaust manifold going into a y pipe with no cats...just the main cat near the muffler...was this factory? as it looks it...but I though there were two precats and I do not have those...??? any info is appreciated

 

Did a parts lookup at NAPA and found only one cat for a 91 Jeep Cherokee.
Looks like it only has one. HTH

 

The precats would be cali emissions.. not all were so equipped.

 

Parts lookup had listing for CA on NON CA versions.
If it fits your rig, install and see if it pass emissions test for NJ.
Isn't that the big question?

 

Check your build date. It should be before January of 2000. They added the pre-cats halfway through the year.......yeah, mine was built after January. Consider yourself lucky.

Cali emisisions has 4 O2 sensors instead of 2.

 

its a 2000 with a 1991 motor...direct swap ecept have to use the gasket on the header for a 2000...yeah I guess mine did not have due to january of 2000 as well...cool...I was a little nervous as NJ is all EMISSIONS hounds...thanks
