Way too noisy if its a daily driver. I did it to my last xj and hated it without the carpet. I'd suggest bed-lining the floors and putting the carpet back in. At the very least don't cut the carpet to get it out. Take it out properly so you can put it back in if you find its too loud as well.

I am new and this is my first post, however I am not new to forums(just jeeps!). I have never done this to a jeep, being that i got my first one 3 days ago, but I did do this to a weekend warrior civic hatch I once had. I would like to note that in a civic I did not save any weight, I actually gained about a half pound. Anyways, onto the process, results, and my opinions.
First I removed the carpet, dash, seats, and entire interior. I then rolled on a product called Herculiner, it is a advance/pepboys/autozone bought bedline that rolls on with an included foam roller. I did 3 coats, each after the previous one had gotten tacky. I found it very hard to get good coverage, my floor was red before, and the bedliner was black, so even the smallest spots stuck through.
This product too A LONG time to dry, the box advertised 12-24 hours, mine took 72 to become "dry" to the full touch, but didnt fully harden for atleast 10 days after that. I know I shook it very well, and it wasnt out of date, so maybe I just got a bad batch?
The product does VERY LITTLE for sound deadening, my car became insanely loud inside(it always was loud outside, ever heard an open header 4cyl revving to 9500rpm?). It also wore VERY quickly where my feet were, all of the texture was quickly matted down and flat, although the product never chipped or peeled, it just looks wierd. Overall, Id say if this is you trail only rig it might be a cool idea because you dont have to worry about mold or anything once its been submerged, and you can just powerwash it clean when you want. If this is your daily I say DO NOT do it. It made me hate my car, and i put the carpet in soon after.

I did it to my 92 non dd,ands it turned out nice.I used hurculiner, and it has been on for over three year's and look's great still.I mostly mud in it,so it is nice forn clean up.
If you do it the main focus should be on prep,I had 6 or 8 hour's in removing carpet and mainly preping the surface.A lot of shop vacing, sanding, cleaning. It took less than an hour per coat, and a gallon was enough for two thick coat's.I used a brush, not the roller provided.

If you're more into off-roading with lots of dirt and mud, I think putting on a bed liner and taking off the carpet would be a good idea. But if you're gonna use it as a DD better put the carpet on.

The only advice i can give is PREP! The more time you spend in prep the better its going to come out and the less chance you have of it flaking/peeling.
