Easy way to tell which is the problem.
Crawl underneath. On driver's side
Reach up and pop out the wire connector for the "4WD Indicator Light Switch"
Allow it to drop down and dangle free.
Take a small piece of wire and jump the two electrical contacts inside.
Climb in.
Turn key to ON.
If the dash indicator lights, the bulb is good and the switch is bad.
If it doesn't the bulb will need to be replaced. (Good to keep jumper wire attached until the bulb lights)
http://www.rockauto.com is about the only place that has them at a reasonable price.
For your 2000 XJ:
4WD Indicator Light Switch
I do not know if yours is vacuum-operated or not.
I would say---probably NOT.
Then the TCA9 would be the ticket.
If you click on the "MORE INFO" link, they almost always have a picture of the EXACT part.
DO NOT GET A "TRANSFER CASE SWITCH!
A Transfer case switch is NOT the same as a 4WD Indicator Light Switch
