I just replaced the vents on the valve cover of my 4.0. The small hole goes in the back of the engine, and does the front have to have a larger hole? The guy at the local parts house said it didnt make a difference. Plus I have oil leaking from the distributor. I have swaped out the dristributor with another one with less miles but, still have oil leaking from base. Plus lots of blow by from dipstick tube. Engine has 270,200 miles. help with fixes appreciated...

The elbow with the small hole is at the rear of the valve cover, the Oring on the distributor base is most likely hard and warn and the cause of the leak. With 270k miles, you're going to have some blowby, hopefully the new CCV and vent will help with that.
