Newbie Jeep Owner with questions
I just bought a jeep yesterday and it needs a little TLC. My A/C is not working AT ALL. It doesn't even attempt to do anything when I try to flip it on. I'm thinking it's something electrical, but I checked all the fuses and tried to check as many lines as possible, coulnd't find anything. Any suggestions? Also i noticed that when I have it in Park or Nuetral the RPM's shoot up to around 1500-2000. When in Drive or Revers it goes back down to just under 1000. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Either you a/c compressor is shot or you system is low on freon wich will cause it not to kick on....the first one you can check by jumping 12V to the clutch directly.
Also sounds like you have a dirty/sticking IAC valve (Idle air Controll) that is located on the Throttle body. you can remove and try cleaning it.

on the A/C friend. you could jump the low pressure switch on the accumulator. this will tell you if the system is functional. jump the switch and start your truck, turn on the A/C like normal. if the clutch engages and then you know it's low on freon. DO NOT let it run like this for long or you will ruin the compressor. this is a fast easy test only.

Thanks for the help. While I was waiting for some replies i took the AC control unit out of the dash and found this in the back, this is either the problem, or was caused by the problem. Maybe it shorted something else out in the system somwhere? Any thoughts? I also noticed that there are oly 4 wires and 5 receptacles???
