Default New XJ owner looking to install some additions

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I'll go ahead anyway. I just recently purchased a '99 XJ and am looking to install some things.

First on my list is cruise control. I saw the write up on how to install it and I think I may be able to handle it, but other than a salvage yard, where can I find the spare cruise control parts?

Secondly I was looking for recommendations for floor mats. I have seen a lot of good things about the weathertech ( http://www.weathertech.com/jeep/1999...er-digitalfit/ ) but was wondering if there were any cheaper alternatives ( Other than wal-mart mats plastic mats ).

Thats all of the questions I have for the moment. Any help is appreciated!

Check out RockAuto.com for OEM replacement parts. As far as the floor mats I would recommend Husky Mats.. I've been happy with mine. Good luck!

I would check out Quadratec's mats. They are pretty awesome and not as expensive as what you are about to buy. They also are form fitting, made of some good materials, and generally awesome. As far as the cruise control, you should be able to handle that simply because you are willing to attempt to...says you have enough where-with-all to get the job done. Rockauto, as mentioned above is pretty solid for parts. If you have any questions this forum is awesome for answers and someone on here has guaranteed to experience some of the things you are about to...happy jeeping.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I found a site with what appears to be 2 out of 4 items I need from the list,

  • Vaccum Actuator (located on passenger side fender behing battery)
  • Cable Setup that runs from the actuator to the TB
  • Clock Spring from an XJ with the switches (airbag can not be deployed from donor)
  • Both Switches from steering wheel

http://www.newjeepparts.com/seccat/c...363/108/30363/

Is that wiring from this link the same as cable setup that runs from actuator to TB?

Just found a clockspring online for $171. Is that a normal/ fair price?

I still haven't found the vacuum actuator or the necessary wires for the cruise control, if anyone knew where I could find them, it would be much appreciated.

A new question I have is about a tire mount. I have seen that some people make their own and I am not 100% opposed to this if it is the cheapest option, but does anyone know where I could find one online?

I found this one http://www.jeep4x4center.com/tire-ca...60-w66355.html

but it is nearly $500.

just did this on my 2000.
All you need is the vacuum servo, the steering wheel switches and a clock spring that has the extra wire.
The vacuum servo has the cable to the throttle already on it. It can't be removed without taking the unit apart.
The switches plug into the extra wire on the clock spring.
Thats it.
The computer handles the rest. Don't forget to plug the servo into the vacuum line that ALREADY has a "T" fitting just for the cruise control and the wiring harness that ALREADY has just the right plug sitting there right beside the battery.
Easy Peasy.

Try the local bone yard for the parts. MUCH cheaper that online.

I live in a fairly small town and am not sure if I will be able to find the parts. Is there anywhere I could find it online just incase I cant find it at the junkyard?

Anyone have any info on where I could find the vacuum servo?

Also, at the moment I am getting around 18.5 mpg or so. Would a 3'' lift and some 31's lower that mpg?

Yes, it could drop atleast 1-3 mpg. Just depends on how you drive

So, I just added new front and back speakers, battery, windshield, and a stereo. I ordered some new floor mats as well and they should be here in a week or so.

I was looking at http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=XJB ,
as another option for a tire carrier. Anyone have any experience with the company or a similar bumper?
