New XJ owner, alignment question...
So I became the owner of a '96 XJ this past week. It's my first Jeep, and my first 4x4. Needless to say, I am a novice and have a LOT to learn.
When I purchased it (smaller stock size tires, in bad need of replacement) it had an alignment issue, and pulled to the right.
Today I had 235/75/r15 tires and new rims put on. Also had them do the fancy computer guided alignment.
It is still pulling to the right. Not quite as bad, but it is still there.
It's very possible the Jeep has been in an accident before as it has a different colored nose piece on it.
so my questions are
1) What could be causing it? If it was in an accident, am I screwed?
2) What should I be looking for underneath that could be out?
Thanks for any help.

Is it pulling right when you let go of the wheel or is the steering wheel cantered to the left but she drives straight? If she still drives straight the alignment shop needs to adjust your drag link.
Either way, freegdr is correct, take it back and let them know. Attachment 198926

2nd, it's pulling.
I actually just got back from an extended test drive over some different terrain. City roads, blacktop, and dirt.
While predominately (60%?) puling to the right, it would at times pull left.
I'm thinking something (though I don't know what) is loose/worn out. We are tearing it apart for paint and body work next week, so I will have a better look at things then. Maybe I can figure it out.

I just checked my manual for pulling to the side and the 2 possible problems are:
Front wheel alignment
Unbalanced steering gear valve.
The manual even has an adjustment for the "sector shaft overcenter" when rebuilding the steering box to ensure it does't pull
Hopefully your problem is just a alignment
