Default New water pump from a 2000 and up 4.0 in my 99

I am planning to overhaul my whole cooling system as my original radiator in my 99 has a slight leak. I read some where that the water pump design was changed by chrysler for the 2000 and up cherokee's and apparently they also got some more HP out of it. I was wondering if any of you have looked into this, it should be a straight fit right? I see most of the pumps advertised as 87-01 any way.

More HP!?

Not aware of a significant change in waterpumps for post-update vs 00-'01.

Whoever told you that needs a slap.

1998+ use the same OEM part 04626054AD.

The minor bump of 5HP was the result of some emissions and ignition changes.

.....but then a high flow water pump would cause coolant to flow too quickly thru the rad thus not cooling off and causing overheating. That myth is constantly perpetuated on the Internet, so it must be true as well......not. LOL
