they are asking 1300 for it,, but its a used car dealer, so maybe the will take my xj as a trade in and hopefully I dont have to pay,, a strait trade...

Just a thought, but you gotta have some stuff thats worth some money you could post on craigslist or ebay???

I would demand my $100 back on that tranny too. Family or not, thats F'd up!
Family makes it sting even worse...

Then, like Kyle said... Hit up some junk yards and get another tranny and use what you have to make a good tranny....
cant do that,, and all the money I have save is for next semester college tuition (spelling) so cant waist that, plus,, I dont have it covered yet..

personally I'm not a fan. But if you decide to go ahead and buy this make sure its in proper running condition to prevent situations like this one.

EDIT: on a side note if you are this concerned about money why are you buying a gas eating SUV? Why not get a small import or the like?

I wouldn't do the mitsu. I would think parts for that dinosaur would be few and far in between...

Didn't even think about that but you bring up a very good point.

Something is telling me that it's not the tranny that's giving you problems. Explain what you mean but you have to "trow" first manually" and 4x4 won't work? What's wrong with the 4x4? 4x4 problems are usually associated with the transfer case. When you try to turn it loses power? explain.

Did the mechanic adjust the kickdown cable properly?

before you jump to conclusions on the tranny, let's make sure it IS the tranny.

Why not another XJ? you can fine a real inexpensive one and if something does happen to go wrong you can get parts very inexpensively and in the majority of cases DIY.
