Default New tires

I'm looking to get a new set of tires for my 2001 XJ sport. I'm currently running 225/75/15 on the stock steel rims (pained black) and i'm thinking of upsizing to a 235/75/15. Can anyone who may have experience making this change tell me how it has affected your gas mileage, speedometer accuracy, etc.? (I know its only a small upsize, but still curious) Also, I currenty have a temp spare and I want to get a full size so will the 235 fit in the spare tire spot in the back of the XJ or will only a 225 fit? The main impetus for getting the 235 is being able to put BFG A/T's on it. Thanks in advance.

You can goto a 235 without issue. It'll fit and shouldn't affect mpg's or speedo since the difference in size isn't much at all. A 235 spare will fit in the rear spot just fine. I had a 30" tire back there.
