Default New Tire & Rims but....

I put jeep grand cherokee rims on a set of 31/10.5/15 Treadwright tires and used the same lug nuts that were on my factory steel wheels but for some reason they all came loose. I'm not sure if the person who put them on didn't tighten them up enough or if the lugs are the wrong type...Tj
P.S. They dont rub turn to turn...kool

Freaky! I saw a compact car drive off its wheel once. It was quite a show with all of the sparks and skidding, but I wouldn't be too excited about having it happen to me.

Glad you caught it before it got trecherous,

Although I'm always on the look out for needed parts, I'm not looking to get them from you that way. As I tell my fellow biker buddies..."rubber side down."

Its a scary feeling, I had a shop forget to tighen all the lugs on one wheel. It was about 3 threads from coming all the way off when I got pulled over

Trekker, also check out your lug studs and make sure they are in good shape....not stretched or stripped from over tightening. Stock torque from Jeep for lug nuts is 75 ft. lbs. I laways tighten mine, with the oversized tires, to 85 ft. lbs. I once lost a wheel while driving on the freeway after having service done at a local tire shop. Another thing I strongly recommend...and it will most likely **** the technician off but, I don't care.....is after they tighten your lugs with the impact gun. Have them hand tighten to 85 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench while you watch them do it. Even after that I always re-torque mine myself. I never want to lose a wheel while going 70 MPH in the hills of southern Oregon, on I-5 ever again.

Well, if one of your buddies picked up an OEM "10 Hole" style aluminum XJ rim with a brand new 32x11.50x15 Pro Comp mudder on it. Near Roseburg, Oregon along I-5 or in the river, that would be mine. I never did get the wheel and tire back. My only relief was that it never hit another car or a house when it departed my Jeep. It went over the side of the road and down the bank into the river, I guess. I never did find it.

Ahh. Well you're probably better off not trying to pull it out of the river. The Rogue near Roseburg can be pretty quick moving depending on the time of year and it definitely isn't a river to go searching for car parts in. Pricing out lifts and wheels/tires myself, I think I would have been dumb enough to jump in the river after it though. I can't afford to watch $200 roll away from me.
