new to the site, just got cherokee
just wanted to announce my arrival, my fiances' grandfather gave me his 1989 jeep cherokee laredo for replacing the transmission in his 85 cadillac a few months ago, its my first jeep and i love it. needs some work but i love a free truck! ive always owned fords, i like this old jeep. the way it is built is real rugged, the 4wd works great. i like the inline six. i wish it wasnt a renix, the later chrysler ones are more plentyful in the junkyards, its ok though. ive made a few changes to it. i have installed twin electric fans, and a cold air intake, i plan to make more improvements to it. will be posting pics soon, good to see a site for these trucks. glad to join the club

yeah i always find 1 renix to 10 later model XJs when in the junkyard, or no renix at all. i like my renix just fine it runs great, i just wish i could scan the pcm if need be. no check engine light no way to tell if somethings wrong, the emission maintmance light was long deactivated before me. no mileage counter box under dash. i may need an o2 sensor, though it runs well. the exhaust smells a bit rich.
