I wouldn't think a rad shop would sell/install a new rad without a new cap. They kinda go together....shouldn't have to tell them.

we'll see in AM, they are consumer budget minded on repairs .. so they get paid timely ( I assume) ..they do good work installing / flushing for sure

he said old hoses wernt bad, maybe before next flush .. new heater hoses will be installed ..my decision

what should I get ? cap-wise ?

that stant flip switch cap is kinda annoying, want a good one .. think my 90 renix, best recovery cap was a murray .. not sure, it didnt blow up like the dormans that came with bottle swap .. held out over 10k miles w/ no problems .. those dorman caps were a serious gremilin .. wasted $$s of coolant tryin to figure out cooling

How old do u think all the hoses r? Might want replace them when u take it back to the shop in 500-1000 miles. The way I look at it, preventative maintenance is done at one's convenience, when the parts stores are open.....repairs are done on the side of the road when nobody's open. The XJ cooling system is far from overbuilt.....keep it, all of it, in tip top shape.

no idea on age of anything .. anymore .. rad hoses are def within 1k miles, water pump too .. thermo was .. got it replaced because a crappy gasket job on housing, they put in a new t-stat today .. just in case

heater hoses are solid / thick .. a slight residue of brown interior when i changed heater valve.. most likely will swap out them all before next flush
