Hey guys, i've got another question for you. It's time for a new muffler as mine currently has a leak. I'm planning on putting on a cherry bomb type muffler (glasspack) so...
1. Any special tools ill need?
2. Does it need to be welded or can i use some sort of clamp?
3. What should i replace? Tailpipe, Cat, Muffler? Everything seems pretty well rusted (stupid chicago winters). I can post pics if that would help
4. What skill-set is needed and how long would it take?
There are probably a couple things im missing but im sure if i need to know you guys will be able to inform me.
Thanks!

You should check out the Jegs cat back system from Dynomax. It's a nice system and comes with a 3" from cat to muffler, and a 2.5" tail pipe and a Dynomax turbo style muffler. Well worth the cost, and sounds much better than any glasspack, and flows better too.

exhaust isn't bad to do, but it can be a major pain. I just installed a 2.5" exhaust on my 2000. I got a 2.5" magnaflow cat, 2.5" flowmaster super 40 and a 2.5" IRO tailpipe. It looked easy but was a lot more frustrating than I thought. Nothing seemed to want to go together. I used clamps on my setup. They seem to hold it together fine but I have exhaust leaks. I've tightened them as far as they could go but some air still leaks out. I'm actually in the process of putting on some exhaust sealant to see if it helps the leaks.
If I could do it all over again I would have just got the parts I needed and had a shop weld it together for me. The price paid would be worth not having to mess with it anymore.

You're not supposed to crank exhaust clamps down excessively. Once the pipe starts to distort, you've gone too far. I fully welded mine, except for one connection so I can drop it later if need be.
