New member with new XJ, having starting problems
Hey everybody, I finally bought my dream ride... and she's already having problems starting.
2000 XJ 4x4 Auto 124k
When I turn the key the motor starts up but dies right away. I have to give it gas to keep the rpms up, but as soon as I let off the gas the motor drops down to zero and stalls. This happens about 3 times everytime I go to start it, then magically on the 4th start it decides to idle on its own. Once the motor establishes idle it's fine and won't stall again. It doesn't stall at red lights or anything, only when starting it. Idle seems rough but it sits at just under 1000 rpms and stays there.
Any ideas what I should check/replace first?
