Default New member- advice needed on buying jeep cherokee

Hi guys,
I currently drive a heavily modified wrangler 12 for off road purposes.. I'm looking for a beater and i found a 96 cherooke with 250k on it. Its very clean, the only problem is it has a cracked windshield(nothing crazy) and an exhaust leak(thats the major concern). Guy is asking $750

Any advice on whether i should consider this or not? How expensive is it to fix an exhaust leak? Guy said it needs new headers...but I haven't checked it out yet.

I was thinking about offering $500-600 and closing the deal..any thoughts?

If all else is good jump on it. I just bought an 01 with a bad motor for a grand and that was after I talked him down from 2000.

As Gunny said if everything else seems fine jump on it. But also like you said see if you can talk him down too. You can find a windshield for around $150 installed depending on your location. As for the exhaust manifold, It is very common for them to crack. The price to replace it all depends on if you are going to replace the manifold with a stock manifold or with a header also if you are planning on changing out anything else like the related piping, cat and muffler. It will also depend on you location. Prices do very on your locations.
Hope the deal works out in you favor. Also welcome to the forum.
