Default new leaf spring bushing install

ok im installing new leaf spring bushings and i finally got all the old ones out. i just read the install instructions for the new ones and they said to remove the old outter shell. how the hell are you suppose to do that. just trying to get the bushings out made me want to bounce my head off the wall. do you really need to remove the shell?

Can't be much different than control arm bushings. Use an air hammer

Will probably need some heat. Torch would work. Or something of the sort. Hammer is a must. PB blaster would help too.
