Hi guys. I have been lurking on here for months as i have wanted an xj since my dad test drove one when they first came out. Last weekend i picked up a 97 xj 4.0 sport in great condition and couldn't be happier. I can't keep away from the jeep builds part of this forum.

Anyway... All appears to be well with the jeep, but when i select 4wd full time, the light doesn't illuminate on the dash but it does come on for part time. Am i missing something?

Any help much appreciated!

 

Ok... After reading more info know this i guess it could be the bulb or switch. When in full time 4wd and i turn the wheels 'hop' so i guess full time is working.

 

You should be in part time when you put it in 4wd. I believe the 97s didn't have any full time 4wd. I could be wrong but whats your 4wd selector options? 2hi, 4hi, n, & 4lo? If that's your options then it should be working just right.

Being a UK model i don't know if it differs from US but it is the facelift model.

The lever selections are 2wd, part time 4wd, full time 4wd, neutral and 4lo. It stands to reason then that i would have to pass through part time to get to full time i guess.

I will post some pics, its just that since i got the jeep its been dark when i get up for work and dark when i get home too :-) watch this space.
