Default new to the jeep world and looking at my first cherokee please help

Hello, my name is Damien, and i'm looking at my first jeep(obviously lol). I'm looking for something that is going to be reliable so i can daily drive it and a decent wheeler in the mud. I have a nother car because i know wheeling breaks things so i already plan on that much. I guess i'll give you the specs on the jeep and if you could please give me your thoughts or opinions on it.
1986 jeep cherokee
2.8litre v6(i've only seen the i6 so i know nothing about this 2.8)
new alternator, starter, brakes all around and ebrake cables
fresh 235 75 r15 tires
heavy steel front bumper with 2 spot lights mounted on it
6"lift
the asking price is $600
going off of the info i gave is there anything else i should look for when inspecting this truck? any certain rears or anything and if so what differances am i looking for? how reliable are the 2.8s?
the only things i'd like to do soon is drive it and tuck some 35x12.5s under it lol and a whinch and probably a home made snorkel. any help is greatly appreciated.

i'm by no means set on this jeep, it just looked to be a decent/cheap starting point.

thats the ad. I'm looking to keep it under $1000 and have it atleast somewhat clean. and i'm not looking to swap a motor or trans that i didn't get to have the fun breaking lol. i was looking for a 90s i6 but this popped up cheap already lifted with a bumper(which i'm not real worried about since my buddy wants to build a tube bumper with his new bender lol) it just seemed convenient you know.

welcome from north jersey!

i'd stay away from the 2.8. only heard bad things about them.

4.0s are wayyyy better

thanks for the welcome, that was pretty much what i needed to know. i searched and couldnt find anything on the 2.8s. so from now on i'm looking for a 1990 or newer 4.0 cherokee. the trans doesn't really matter to me but i'd feel more comfortable wheeling an auto.
