New hubs and brakes, now she wont budge...
Replaced the front hubs (drivers side fell apart when I removed it) as well as front rotors and pads. Now the truck is so tight up front that I have to put it in 4 lo in order to move anywhere.
Im no novice to auto repair so I didnt do this out of a Haynes manual, Im just not getting something...why isnt the front end loosening up?? Hub nuts too tight? pads bearing down on the rotor? New rotor + pads = ??
Suggestions please?

I put it in 4 lo and drove it down the road, it sounds like the brakes are rubbing, i only went about 1000' down the street, when i got back the brakes were a little hot...Im wondering if the new rotors combined with the new pads are just bound up against eachother...

I would agree that sometimes a corroded caliper piston may not retract when commanded to, but Im leaning more towards the rotor having the wrong offset...comparing the oem and the new they are visibly different...besides it shouldnt ride so close to the dust cover anyway...stupid me for trying to get it done and not paying attention....

New rotor thickness may be your problem. By the website if found the new thickness of front rotors is 0.94 in. It shows the Grand's at 0.99, so make sure you werent given the wrong rotors, (although i dont think they are a direct fit). Check thickness with a tape or caliper and it should tell you if it is squeezing your pads. Good luck!

My bad, the cylinder bore is 0.99 not the rotor thickness for the Grand's. It does show the rotors at 0.94 in for an XJ.

Try that, there's a certain way the pads sit in the caliper and that determines how the caliper goes on. Other than that, the only thing I can think of would be hub related, which wouldn't cook the brakes unless the hub wasn't fully seated into the steering knuckle and cause the rotor to be offset more than it should be. Does it pull to one side or the other when you do have it moving?
