Default New Guy Transfer case fluid ?

Hi new member and new owner of 2001 Cherokee sport I just bought it and have started the maintance on her I have a Haynes book that said to use Dexron II or III fluid so I changed it and then read in owners manual to use ATF+4 should I change it again or are they the same. I am not a mechanic but I try. allready hooked on this jeep and plan on having a great time with it thanks for the help.

Generally, most Jeep owners use the same ATF in their TC as in their AW4, which is (should be) Dextron III/Mercon. If you are using ATF+4 in your tranny then use it in your TC. The TC will operate on just about any fluid, including vomit , but I recommend using the ATF used in your tranny to avoid too many fluids to keep track of. Also recommend changing your TC fluid at the same time you change your tranny fluid and filter.
