Sorry guys bear with me.

Im new to jeeps and am full of questions.
Whats the difference between a np 242 that i have now and the np231?

What all is involved in pullin the front seats out of a cherokee? Mine are leaning towards the center console?

If this is in the worng spot please move it!

231 - no full time 4wd. More aftermarket support (true SYEs) and its slightly stronger.

242 - full time 4wd. Hack n' tap SYEs are only available for it. (I think someone is or has made a full time SYE but I've yet to see it yet.

Seats are easy. Two bolts in front. Two bolts in back. Seats will pull out. If they're power seats you need to sort out the wiring.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I did a little reading on SYE's vs hack n tap.

Im not really liking the hack n tap approach...So...

Pre 89 is a 21 spine output and a 91+ is a 27 spline, right?

So whats a 90?

Will the 231 main shaft fit in the 242 case to get a true SYE?

How do I find out if my AW4 is a 21 or 23, before I pull the tcase?

No.

Some company, don't remember which, does make a true 242 SYE.

Tom Woods list its main shaft as a "Modified stock shaft" not a "modified stock out-put shaft"

Whats the difference?

Edit: I did a little reading and I think I figured out the difference.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to 4wds.
