New exhaust system & tubing...input wanted
Ok so since I got my xj a couple months back I have always smelled fumes or exhaust in the cab. Its probably because the previous owner did a crappy job installing an aftermarket muffler and it pours exhaust out through where the pipe enters the muffler. Also the entire exhaust tubing, from the headers back, is rusted and in terrible shape. Anyways my wife is allowing me to put in a whole new exhaust system . I’m still in shock haha. I know I could probably just wrap or weld the leak but I want a new setup. I wanted to run my plan by you guys to see what you think, plus I got a couple questions.
Here’s the plan:
Completely new tubing, from the headers back. My question is what is the best way or place to get the tubing bent and ready for installation, which I'll be doing myself. I’m afraid that this tubing is gonna be the most expensive part. How would you guys go about getting that section of the pipe (from the bottom of the headers to the opening of the cat). Also I plan on going to 2.5in diameter from the headers back. I’ve read that this should be ok, correct?
Hi-flow cat. There’s a bunch out there that I've seen ranging from $40 to $150. Any of you guys prefer one over the others? I don’t want to spend too much on this...
Flowmaster Super 44- The offroad version cuz it looks sick IMO. $90
And then finally a better flowing rear pipe from the muffler back. Rusty's Offroad sells them. $80
Well thats the plan. Sound ok? Thanks for all the help guys. You all have been a huge help while I've been fixing up my xj.

I found a couple around $40 on ebay... There's a Magnaflow one on there for $65 that I think I'm gonna go with. At least I've heard of that brand, unlike the cheaper ones. Well it's good to hear you don't think it will be too expensive to get those pipes done. I'm hoping to stay under $400 for the total cost....

Sounds good to me. I wanted to get the parts and install it myself cuz I'm sick of paying $65 an hour for labor, even though I like my mechanic. Any ideas where I can get that bent piece of pipe for that weird section between the headers and the cat?

Nice, thanks man. I think I found the piece I was looking for but get this, it says it only fits 91-92 cherokees. Same with the other pipes on there. I couldnt find one that would fit a 93... heres the link to what I found, http://www.quadratec.com/products/51403_11.htm
Shouldnt this still work on my xj?

Ok found a head pipe for my cherokee. But its a stock replacement. Whats the diameter of the stock head pipe for our xj's? Isn't it 2.25in all the way down?
