I just put on a flowmaster 40 series and I love it. The truck has more pep and it sounds great. The inside noise is not too loud and it sounds good and throaty outside.

Wouldn't recommend Cherry Bomb. Hear too many horror stories of them breaking down after a month or two and losing their tone. I had a Magnaflow on my last cherokee (catback) and it sounded really nice. Pretty good tone, and fairly deep sound for the average person.
I just put a Aero 2525 with the Aero resonator on the Cherokee I have now, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the sound that was coming from my Jeep. It has a very deep tone too it, not too loud, but just enough to make any avid Jeep enthusiast crack a smile when they hear it. I contemplated not installing the resonator at first, thinking it may tone it down too much, but that was not the case at all. I put the resonator to help get rid it of the high pitched rice racer snap, crackle, and pop.

Go to youtube and search Aero 2525 XJ, there is a vid on there with no picture, just a sound clip, it says Jeep Cherokee 4.0L Aero Exhaust in white lettering I think. Let me know how it sounds to you.

As far as flow is concerned, the cherry bomb pro will yield about 470 cfm with a 3' exhaust pipe. Flowmaster i'm not sure of their website doesn't say, it depends on the muffler series and case size. Just for comparison straight pipes would flow around 598 cfm with a 3' pipe. As far as sound, it's entirely up to you. Everyone's opinion about how "mean" your exhaust sounds will vary. I've had a cat-back similar to the rusty's kit but swapped in a Cherry Bomb glasspack. I've had it since I got my XJ and it sounds even meaner than the day I installed it. (took some time to wear in the fiberglass packing) Nice deep rumble at idle, not too much interior noise over stock, but angry when you step on it. I don't know what cherry bomb mufflers pwn is refering too but I've personally never had any issues with glasspacks. Solid design, no seams to blow out, and much cheaper than flow 40's. Many sound clips on youtube. Just search to your hearts content.

X2 as well. I have had my glasspack and 2.5in pipe from cat-back since December and it still sounds great!

Not sure if it's true but i've also heard you can "crack" the glass if you let your exhaust heat up to operating temperature and spray it with a garden hose. Haven't personally done it but I would imagine it would increase the sound.

If you take a hammer to a glasspack it will break the fiberglass inside up a bit and be a little bit louder. I got one on my Jeep and it sounds pretty good. Another thing to consider is having an exhaust shop replace the S-Pipe from the manifold to the cat. It was crushed near the manifold from the factory. I replaced mine and it revs a lot easier, used to be hesitant above 4000rpm now it will rev to 5000 a lot easier.
