Default New door pin won't fit into the check arm

I ordered 2 new pins from Morris 4x4 to put in the front door check arms.

The pin fits perfectly in the 2 holes on the body-side of the car, but when I put it in the hole on the check arm, it wont go in more than 1/4".

These are the pins I got.

And no, i'm not putting it in upside down. I've tried wiggling it in there but nothing will work :\

EDIT: The only thing I could think is that an owner before me replaced the check arms or something, but it certainly doesn't look like it...Ever since I bought the jeep it hasn't had pins in the arms, and the arms were backed away into the doors

When I worked on my door I had to tap mine out and back in. If it just pushed in it would fall out.

Yeah, those dont just push in, otherwise theyd just fall out. It'll take a hammer.

Those things are a PITA for sure. I've lost so many so far i think napa keeps a stock of them just for me. Get a flat screwdriver and hammer and tap her in and every so often you have to check on it to make sure it's in. Also white lithium grease it often to help door open a lil easier

Is the new pin the same diameter as the one you knocked out? I ordered some through napa and while in the box they looked the same size but when I went to put them in they were a hair different and the bigger would not go. I ended up using the bushings that came in the pack and a 3 1/2 in 5/16 bolt with two nuts to put in place of the bigger pin. It worked great, I have no problems with the bolt.

I couldn't tell ya. When I bought the car, the passenger side had no door pin, and the driver side had a bolt in the hole rather than a pin.

Anyways, I got it in, thanks guys! The way it slid into the body-side holes made me think it should just slip in and then the rib on the pin would hold it there...guess not! Flathead screwdriver and a hammer popped it in real quick!

Now I have to decide if I want to buy another one to fix the passenger side door. I ordered two, but one popped out and fell inside of the fender

I see the pin moving and "popping" as I close the door.
Why is it doing this? Has the pin gotten deformed over the years?
How do you remove the old pin? Smash it out?

Do you need to just replace the pin or the bracket also?

Oh yea, is Morris a good place to buy stuff, in general?
Or are they just a dealer (If so, I can just use my local dealer and save on shipping)
Else, rockauto?

On some forums, people get pissed if you start a new topic. So, I just piggybacked onto an existing one. As a bonus, the original posters interested in this topic might get an email notification about my new post.

I've done that once or twice myself. Beats cluttering the forum more with the same questions. Besides after a year I think the op has resolved or given up on the problem.

Search would have provided all your answers without reviving an old thread.

IIRC it's an odd size. 7mm? I drilled mine out to 5/16? IIRC, and put solid metal in there. I needed to use long drill extensions, and borrow an angle drill, but the hollow pins are gone. Solid pins now.

Very important to keep well lubed, the stock pins are very hard spring steel roll pins, but the brackets are just cheap pot metal and always give up first.
