Good evening folks. Im Bill. I just got an old Cherokee given to me by my future inlaws. Its an 86 with the 2.5L engine with a bit over 245,000 miles on it. She has the 5speed and 4WD. Right now she is going to need a radiator according to the former owner but as you can tell it has some huge mileage on her. I have a few questions if you folks dont mind.
1. Is it worth the money to replace the engine?
2. What kind of mileage can I expect?
3. How good is that 5speed and should I budget a new trans with that mileage.
4. Is their a site or anything that lists a cross reference guide?
Thanks so much and if anyone needs or wants computer help I have a few skills. Bill

Im not as knowlegable on the 2.5 as i am on the 4.0, but I think before I would replace the engine, I would get a radiator from the junk yard, put it in and just do a basic but thurough tune up and go from there. You'd be surprised, these things last a long time with proper care. Have u heard it run yet. you can run it breifly without the radiator in it without it heating up.
