New to the Cherokee game, need help identifying my lift.
Hey, I'm new to owning a Cherokee and I want to put a good foot foreward with being knowledgable about my vehicle.
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ I6 that I bought recently. The guy told me it was an 8" Rubicon Lift but i noticed that Rubicon doesn't make an 8" for my jeep. So i checked it out a lil more underneath and I couldn't find many labels or codes, only on my shocks. I ran the code on google and many Rough Country lifts popped up running shocks with the same code.
So I think I have a Rough Country lift kit, but I would like to find out if at all possible what exact lift kit I have.
I can take pictures of any and all of the suspension if that'll help you help me. I want to figure out exactly what I have before I start changing things.
Thank you for your time and patience.

its most likely a 6.5 with spacers and shackles added to net you out at 8....try looking on the leafs usually you can find a brand name on them...and BTW welcome to CF

Post pics of underneath, Control Arms, Coil Springs, etc. I know RE springs are grey, and Rusty's springs are black withs Rustys written on them. IRO have pretty distinctive control arms and maybe someone else could identify it if its RC
Nice looking rig and Welcome

Good looking XJ and welcome to CF! As has been said, get some pics of the suspension parts and look at the leaf springs to see if there area any manufacturer labels at all.

Also to the OP, 8" on what looks like a short arm lift would be a little sketchy. If this is the case you probably would want to upgrade to LA.

Right i wasn't sure if the RC LA setup actually came in grey or if it was only for the pictures since it was a newer product

Here we go! Thanks for all the responses, I'm lovin the Cherokee so far and I want to slowly make it a beast! ha
I looked on the leafs for a code and found "8047" printed on it and that's the part number for a 4" Lift Leaf Spring.

Thank you! I'm getting ready to but 35's on it and change out the gears, something around 4.25. It rides a lil rough, maybe i'm just not used to a lifted cherokee yet, so I was considering putting Bilstein 5150's all around. My friend just put Bilstein 7100's on his chevy front end and its soooo smooth. What are your opinions on 5150's for my application. Its a daily driver and a lil off-roading from time to time. Also, I was considering a control arm drop bracket kit to level out my control arm as i've heard that after a lift (like in my picture 4) the control arm is at an angle and directs some of the bumps of the road more directly to the chassis. How much would this kit really help with a smoother ride?

yes the control arm drop will smooth it out. I drive into the city and one of the roads is nothing but filled pot holes so it was crazy bumpy, put that on and was good to go world of difference!!

Thanks BlackSport! You really made me feel good about getting that control arm drop bracket kit!
And HaroRider, 33's at the moment. I need new tires so I was planning on putting on 35's and upping the gears. It clears fine with 35's with moderate articulation. But i was gonna put in an inch or two coil spacers and blocks to give a lil more space. But I though i'd be raising my Jeep too much and get too top heavy. So i've settled on 33's pretty much again. ha
