Arrow new to CF and new to XJ - some input?

Hey ya'll
im new to CF. and new to XJs all together.
im a country boy but been living in the city for acouple years so i had myself a lil'civic for my 2years of drivin in and around the city. and now its time to get my own offroader. (im still also learning my way around these machines in general) (im more of a rider than a techy with these machines, more art/electronic minded... but i need to understand how to take care of my truck/self lol)

now i wanted to get some input on this XJ im looking at,
my uncle(bodyman/mechanic) gave me some advice but i want some words directly from you XJ vets (so i dont get myself in to deep right away)

...county style, get more than you can handle... then learn to handle it.

here are some images that i got from the seller, im trying to setup a test run and personal viewing but dont wanna waste the guys time if i bail out on the purchase.

(apologizes for so much intro words - i talk alot)

ps. seller is asking 3,500 for it....
(my uncle suggests offering at 2,800 or even less)
(seller only states: It has 8" lift, 33" tirs, 4.0lL 6 cylinder 5 sp manual trans)

just let me know what ya'll think, and let me know what its got...
i sumwhat know what its got to offer and know what i Need to fix... but as i said, i would like to hear Anything and Everything there is from the XJ vets thoughts/mind. THANKS.
(sorry if i posted in wrong place - searched first)

$2500 would be my top offer on that one..... ive seen a lot better rigs in the $3300-4000 price range. I would look some more.

those rock sliders don't look very secure to me. check how they are mounted. Is that a total of 4 bolts? scary. I see a Rough Country sticker on the window. so maybe the lift is an RC lift? Looks pretty clean under the hood. Just take it for a test drive, and make sure everything is good. Then let us know, and we can give you a price to offer if you are still interested.

cool cool, thanks.

like i said about my uncle suggesting 2,800 which was my thought as well to offer...
but he also over looked it again and said... 2,500 because of the rubber being two diff and primer issue.

the only thing is.... about the seller he says its not in Dyer to sell... he said his wife suggested... as hes got a bike he maintains...

i might offer first then if he agrees i will go test and give it a listen.

thanks so far.
