Default new 4.5 lift last night, new wobble

I know death wobble has been covered many times but I dont think that is what I have. From a stop I get a wobble for a few seconds then its good to go. I still have to put on the adj. trac bar and get it aliagned. I put 6* shims in and I am going to try taking out the TC drop. What might it be?

Wobble on take off is rear driveshaft usually.

Deathwobble is from the front end with improperly adjusted links, trackbar, alignment.

Check your angles of your rear shaft...Also remember on take off, your pinion usually rotates UP with spring wrap. If you have flexy springs, it will rotate more.

Depending on what driveshaft your using...cardin, slip, flange..the angles are different.

If your using shims, chances are your have put a slip yoke and tried to align it like a cardin.

The real question is the wobbe coming from your steering wheel or from under your seat? If under your seat that means its time for a SYE.

Its coming from under the seat and I think my next purchase is going to be the SYE. I will have to ride like this for a little while. A month or two. What SYE should I look for and how much am I looking at? Is install easy to do? By the way you guys are quick thanks.

Kyle...I luv ya dearly...But we really need to drop SYE from the list of fixes. Its $500 to put one on with a new shaft. HackNTap maybe $75-100 but you still need that shaft bringing it up to a cool $300.

If people would just spend a few minutes and measure the angles properly, they could get their lift correct and not waste money if not needed.

I did 7" lift on a 242 without any vibs. No sye at all. I didn't go SYE until 8" long arm. And that was for 2 reasons. I needed a longer shaft anyways because of the extended droop of the rear. Also I got a 231 sye case CHEAP. $350 and the SYE was already installed.

I honestly wish people would measure once, twice, THREE times the charm and make sure their angles are proper. They will save thousands of dollars in the long run.

Check your angles http://www.4xshaft.com/driveline101.html

Also Tom Woods makes a good SYE kit but you better be ready to crack open your t-case to do it.

Funny thing is with your LCA's and bouncy's springs made for a good lift. Now looking at the angle info. I will try a few things tonite and see what happens.

I gave you that 4xshaft link that shows the angles and how to measure them. The top shaft is the normal slip version. The bottom one is the cardan type. (same as your front driveshaft.)

I would much rather see you not get an SYE and do the angles properly...Then you can buy that rear disc break setup...Or maybe a locker.

The reason you got away with your 7" and SYE is because of the internal slip yoke on your TCase, the OP has a 98 which means external slip yoke which means more vibes. A SYE will reduce the vibes and even eliminate them. 150 $ is all it takes, HnT with a front DS. That way when/if you twist either one of your DS's you have a spare for both.
