I took my XJ up to Belle Tire last week to have a tie rod adjusting sleeve put on and an alignment.

Over the last week its been getting more and more out of alignment...fearing loose components in the front end I got under there and started tugging on everything...all was nice and solid till I got to the sleeve.....grabbed it and TWISTED it back and forth with ZERO resistance! They did tighten the clamps at both ends...so far towards the center of the rod they do no good!

This is after 2 weeks ago when I took the XJ in to have the O2 sensors replaced and they left the wiring hanging down to get caught on the front drive shaft and offered to replace it without labor costs but still at the marked up cost of parts...100 bucks for a 50 dollar part that they screwed up in the first place!

 

Wow. Just wow. They should have replaced the part for free all around. Never heard of Belle Tire but thanks for the warning.

Makes me want to do my own work even more (within reason) At least I know that if I screw something up its on me and I am the dumb ***.

 

Damn, that sucks! That's why I avoid places like that to get work done. Always best to learn to do the work yourself
