Default Neutral Safety Switch

I've wanted to become more mechanically literate, and this seems like a good chance. Yes, I know there's a lot of threads on this already, but none of them are too great. We've decided that the NSS is the problem, because it has no backup (reverse) lights and occasionally wont start. So I'm new, and these questions may seem dumb, but:

1. Where is the NSS?
2. How do I remove it?
3. Does it need to be replaced, or is it something that needs a wipedown with some PB?

Thanks. Any help from people who know what they're talking about would be great.

ok, the NSS is located on or near the bell housing. ( transmission ) if im wrong plz correct me sum1. but. just be very carefull removing it. and pb blast the bolts holding it down. you can clean the NSS with brake cleaner if you remove it. take it apart and take notes to get it back together.

On my 93 it is on the transmission passenger side. Yes it looks like the picture posted above. I had mine off once but could not clean it because the screws were so rusted I could not get it open. I just ordered a brand new OEM one fresh in the package for 40$ off ebay, they are 170$ at the local parts store. Haven't been home yet to install it so don't take my word for it 100%, but if you decide to buy a new one you might want to consider ebay.
