Default need some help

I recently bought a 1987 jeep cherokee limited, i got a deal i couldnt refuse because the guy was hard up for $ an it was sitting for a lil over a year...

The jeep overheated an boiled over a few times on the previous owner, he couldnt figure out why it was doin that so thats y it sat...I just got done putting a 1990 jeep commanche motor into the cherokee, the motor ran fine in the commanche, but in the jeep it was not, the motor will idle good for a few min an then idle way down to almost stalling, it will not stop doin this....

Yesterday i changed the fuel filter an you wouldnt believe the s*** that came outta of it, it looked like oil an rust mixed together!!...

I was lookin for some advice, i guess that is prob why the jeep is idle'n high an low? lol, an i know i have to change the fuel pump but what about the fuel tank? is there a strong enuff cleaner to really clean it out?

hey,

drop the tank, pull the fuel pump, clean that lil filter,

have the tank cleaned out by a rad shop or get yourself a new tank

(quadratec) has a good price. or junkyard.

then replace or powerflush the radiator and coolant system

(radiator could have some N-A-S-T-Y crap in it from sitting so long)......

just my opinion, hope it helps!

Im heading back to the jeep commanche tomorrow to pull the computer and watever sensors are there...i tried pulling out the fuel tank but those d*** retaining nuts wont come off!!...i thought the bolts that hold the tank to the frame were welded in, but everytime i crank the the wrench the bolt moves back and forth! im ready to just cut the bolts and see if canadiantire or hardware store have someting like them that i can rig up, the L-bolts are pretty much the same as the battery tie downs but bigger...
