Default Need immediate help with headliner!!!!

I am in the middle of changing my headliner and cannot get the dome light off. I can't find a screw. It looks like two rivets with serrated washers holding it on and I can't get them off. Any advice?? I need to be able to go to work tomorrow and need to finish this asap.

Thanks,

Jay

Oh it's 1993 Sport.

Just grab on to those washer type things with whatever u got. I used my pocket pliers. But whatever u got will work. Then work them left to right while pulling down. that's how I got mine out and back in. There might be a better way but that worked quick and easy for me a bunch of times.

Pic? It's not a torx-head screw is it? I think the one on my 2000 was held on with a couple of phillips...

I pried mine up with a screw driver & used needle-nose pliers to finesse 'em off - and broke one. Save them, you might need those little things to re-attach the light.Turns out I didn't need them because I used a headliner from a newer XJ as replacement, but you might, depending on what you're doing.
