Default need help with a wiring harness

So i'm in kind of a dilema. last weekend a small electrical fire broke out under my hood while i was driving. i managed to put it out before it got out of hand, but the front wire harness that leads to the head light and connects to the four black relays and the silver relay under the a/c hoses was fried. also the two plugs that connect to the igniter for the coil pack.

i've been able to find every thing else to replace the damages that the fire caused. I'm having a hard time finding that harness. Its an 88 limited. i can't find the limited's at the pick aparts around me and the jeeps i do find are slightly different.

so my question is, seeing as how i only need a section of the harness, could I (and really) is it safe to cut the burned sections of wire out and splice in new wiring? Or should i endeavor to replace the whole harness? and If so, then can any one tell me where i can find said harness. I would be much appreciative ^.^

I really miss driving my jeep.

Personally, if I was in that situation, I would look for a new/used harness and just cross my fingers that I find one. good luck!

I would cut and replace. But what would worry me, is why the fire started in the first place.

i think the cuase was my positive wire coming off of the battery. the insulation on the other wires were melted away from the fire, but that was the only wire that was completely seperated from its self. meaning that on closer inspection it was in two pieces
