Default Need Help: What are these wires for?

Working on the '96 (4.0, manual trans) today I spotted a wiring harness not plugged into anything. First picture below. I looked around for what it should be connected to, and saw a female connection below the coolant reservoir, however they were not compatible. Second picture below. I'm unsure of the proper path of the first connector, its wire has decent length and a plastic mounting bracket attached in the middle of its length. More importantly, does anyone have knowledge of what these connections are for? The Jeep does run (albeit not well right now due to faulty CPS), so I guess they aren't critical. Couldn't find any helpful information in my service manual: pretty hard to look something up when you don't even have a clue what system its used in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Highlighted the assumed path of the unknown wire in red. It's rooted next to the purge solenoid.

I think the one near the firewall is for an under hood light. The other may be for the battery temp sensor.

If you have AC, one of those connectors may be for the High Pressure Cut Off Switch.

Pic shows the High Pressure switch connection in a '99 XJ.

Maybe cruise control? Ken knows his stuff, though!

So I figured out the first harness goes to the light bulb that attaches to the underside of the hood - mine's nonexistant. Haven't had a chance to look around if the other is a connector for the A/C.

First picture is the data link connection for a scan tool. Second picture is the under hood light connector. Third picture is the seatbelt light connection.
