Default Need help on possible buy

My girlfriends dad and I are looking at a 98 Grand Cherokee for her younger sister and the jeep is sweet. Its loaded got all the stuff you can imagine on it and runs great.

Its not going to be used for any off roading just what she wants to drive to college.

Heres the problem when you put it into 4lo it hopes on take off pretty much like its slipping or not all the way into gear. But we have it put into gear. After it does this it'll go fine in 4lo no problems until you come to a stop again then it repeats.

So any ideas on whats causing this if its not a major pain to fix or should we just back away and keep on looking. He's not set on buying this jeep just looking into it.

Thanks.

it shouldnt really be driven in 4lo anyways if you are going to do driving in 4x4 do it in 4hi and if youre gonna be goin over 40 you shouldnt need 4x4 at all

i use 4 lo all the time, it is needed if you have a 4x4...the selector linkage might need adjusted on it or some teeth might be stripped out on your low gear cluster in the t-case causing it to miss and jerk suddenly personally i look for some other grands in your area if shes going to be driving back and forth to college everyday especially in the winter

Thanks for the input.

Won't be driving it every day but when she comes home it'll get a 100 miles each way put on it. Just no use in having something that don't work right like 4lo.

Not saying she would be driving it in 4lo anyway just no point in having it if it don't work.
